Hi, I’m Leif Arnesen. That’s the question that drove me to research an evidence-based approach to vegan body transformation and launch the Vegan Superhero Academy in 2018 alongside my brother Anders.
Our mission is simple: To cut through empty promises, bogus research, and confusing advice and bring an effective, personalized approach to health and fitness that any vegan can use to get in better shape — even if they’ve tried and failed before.

Just a few years ago, Molly weighed 350 pounds at the height of her struggle with emotional binge eating. After going vegan and cleaning up her diet, she lost 178 pounds over a period of four years. But then Molly hit a major fat loss plateau that caused her weight to remain constant for nearly a year. David lost 31.4 pounds in 90 days and then raced his first Ironman 70.3!
Our client David was stuck in a frustrating cycle of dieting and marathon training to just maintain a weight that he wasn’t comfortable with. After joining our Vegan Superhero Academy coaching program, he lost 31.4 pounds of fat in 90 days. What excited him, even more, is that he was able to complete the first unassisted pull-up of his life. While doing a pull-up was always a goal of his, he never truly believed that it was possible for him. Yet towards the end of our program, he was able to knock out four pull-ups in a row. Through his transformation, David has inspired his two children and nephew to adopt healthy habits. He accomplished all of this while showing up for his family and traveling around the world for work.
Adriana got lean and sculpted at 68 years young!
Adriana was struggling to find the right approach to vegan nutrition and proper training to get her to her goals. With over 170 years of combined experience, we are the most experienced vegan fitness coaching team in the world.
Members of our coaching team have degrees and certifications in everything from psychology, physiology, neuroscience, nutrition, strength training, injury prevention, rehabilitation, yoga, and more. We also have a full-time vegan dietician on our staff. We have also competed at the highest levels of Olympic weightlifting, physique competitions (figure, bikini, and bodybuilding), CrossFit, powerlifting, and endurance racing.
Coach Andrew, CPT, WLS, CF-L1
Andrew is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Weight Loss Specialist (WLS), and a CF-L1 Trainer in the CrossFit space. He began his own fitness journey after coming to the realization that he had gained 35 pounds since graduating high school. Eager to make change, he immersed himself into evidence-based training and nutrition and lost 30 pounds while gaining plenty of muscle along the way. Andrew’s primary motivation is to inspire others to choose compassion and kindness toward our animal friends.
Coach Arman, CPT
After discovering the power of a plant-based diet, Arman started his journey of building muscle and strength. He is an elite powerlifter well-versed in all aspects of training who is currently chasing the Spanish deadlift record. Arman’s extensive background in nutrition, training, and data analytics allows him to get clients predictable results. He has a love for data and the answers it can help us find, and he uses this same mentality with Coaching. Arman’s biggest passion in life is to help himself and others continually improve in every way possible.
Coach Brian, CPT
Brian’s passion for fitness started around 12 years old when he first began to strength train for tae kwon do, football, wrestling, and track and field. At 17, he began personal training clients and he's now been training people for over a decade. He specializes in helping vegans burn stubborn body fat while improving their body composition to help his clients build strong, lean bodies! Brian believes that all vegans have the power to become healthy and fit athletes, and that’s why he’s dedicated his life to helping vegans achieve their full potential.
Coach Chazz, CPT
Chazz's fitness journey began in childhood, with basketball capturing his heart at the young age of ten. For a decade, it was his primary sport, filled with bodyweight movements and rigorous cardio workouts. At age 21, coinciding with his transition to a vegan lifestyle, Chazz ventured into the weight room and witnessed a rapid transformation, packing on lean muscle and newfound strength. Today, Chazz is a father of four boys, with his whole family thriving on a plant-based diet. His deep-seated passion for joining VSA stems from his belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to lead a fit and healthy life.
Coach Chiara, CPT
Chiara is a Health Coach, Yoga Teacher, Vegan Expert, and Functional Medicine Practitioner with 11 years of experience. She has been vegan since 2012. Chiara has been an avid half and full marathon runner as well as a half ironman and a yogi. However, strength training was the life-changing key to building and maintaining a strong and lean physique reaching 40. She has dedicated herself to working closely with struggling vegans who want to improve their quality of life, gain energy, lose body fat, and take care of chronic issues once and for all.
Coach Daniel, CPT
Daniel graduated with a degree in Chemistry in 2019 but quickly realized his passion lied where he had thought it was for years - fitness. He's been working in the fitness industry for over a decade and has helped numerous clients to reach their physical and mental goals. Daniel’s coaching style is simple - find something that works for the individual in front of you. Daniel wants to help his clients find this way, teaching them how to integrate fitness into their lifestyle in a sustainable way, and maybe learn a thing or two himself as well.
Coach Daphne, CPT, MD, PhD
Daphne is a vegan health coach, an IFBB Bikini pro, and has a lifelong passion for health and fitness. She has a PhD in physiology and began her career as a physician. Her expertise in lifestyle medicine, fitness, and nutrition gives her a powerful toolkit to help her clients transform their lives. Daphne is a Certified Group Exercise Instructor, Certified Weight Management Specialist, and Certified Corporate Wellness Specialist. She believes in a holistic approach to health with a focus on nutrition, physical activity, stress reduction, sleep, and community.
Coach Emma, CPT
Emma is a Certified Personal Trainer with a Bachelor's degree in Human Physiology, Neuroscience, and Nutrition. Her expertise in fitness and nutrition combined with her background in neuroscience is a powerful combo. She's an IFBB Pro bikini competitor with a 1st place win at the Olympia Portugal 2020, 2nd place at the Arnold Australia 2019, and a 1st Place finish at the Bendigo Country Classic in 2018. Emma's motivating and encouraging approach to coaching will leave you with passion, purpose, and drive to become the best version of yourself!
Coach James, CPT
After witnessing several family members suffer from disease including alcoholism, diabetes, and neurodegenerative diseases like dementia, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer's, James read The China Study and became vegan in 2018. James joined the Vegan Superhero Academy (VSA) as a client in June of 2020 with a goal to take control of his health in his 40s by losing body fat, building muscle, and learning more about vegan nutrition. The program had such a tremendous impact on James that he left his corporate job to help others achieve similar transformations.
Coach Lukasz, CPT
Lukasz's fitness journey began with resistance training, which transformed both his physique and mindset. He became a personal trainer in 2020, driven by his passion for helping others achieve their goals and become the strongest, most confident version of themselves. Lukasz believes that a plant-based diet and structured fitness plans can benefit anyone looking to improve their health and wellness. He is dedicated to providing his clients with the tools and support they need to reach their full potential and lead happy, healthy lives.

Marc has been a Certified Personal Trainer for over 7 years and is a fully qualified nutritionist (BSc). He was driven to become a coach after overcoming his battle with obesity. Marc lost almost 90 lbs and completely transformed his body composition. He has been vegan for over 5 years and is a massive advocate for the vegan lifestyle to improve your quality of health. Marc has a huge passion for helping people change their lives and overcome obstacles. He wants everyone to know that veganism is a great foundation for a fit, happy, and healthy life.
Coach Mislav, CPT
Mislav began his fitness journey as an elite rower and transitioned into a competitive bodybuilder. After many years spent competing at a high level, he now focuses more on staying active through weightlifting, bicycling, and taking long walks while listening to audiobooks and podcasts. He is a certified personal trainer with 12 years of coaching experience and currently pursuing a Master's degree in Exercise Science and Kinesiotherapy. He's also a published author with vast experience treating eating disorders, specifically compulsive and emotional eating disorders.
Coach Ruari, CPT
Ruari became vegan in 2017 after watching the documentary Earthlings. He later got into fitness and found a love for bodybuilding, but struggled to find a coach that was both vegan and an experienced bodybuilder. He chose to take up the challenge and become a certified personal trainer, earn his Level 1 Precision Nutrition certification, and start training for his first bodybuilding show. He has a genuine love for people and learning their stories, and is passionate about creating a unique experience by helping people overcome their obstacles and achieve things they never thought were possible.

Sarah is a vegan nutrition and fitness coach with a bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Psychology. She is also a certified personal trainer and pilates and yoga instructor. Sarah believes in taking a holistic approach to health and wellness, with a focus on moving and fueling your body in a way that fosters longevity and the creation of healthy habits that last a lifetime. Sarah’s coaching style is to lead with kindness and empathy. Her positive and encouraging approach to coaching will motivate and fuel you with a passion to reach your ultimate goals and to live a fulfilled, balanced life of kindness to yourself and to others around you.
Coach Sarah Bright, CPT
Sarah has been a Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor for over 20 years. She’s also held a variety of Fitness Nutrition Certifications, is a certified Indoor Cycling teacher, and is a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. Sarah's graduate work was in Kinesiology with an Exercise Science concentration, and her undergraduate degree is in Music Theatre with minors in Dance and English Lit. In her spare time, Sarah hosts a podcast called Your Chakra Coach that talks about emotional, mental, and physical wellness from a yogic perspective. She believes that these aspects of health are inseparable and coaches to the whole person.

Simeon’s journey began as a skinny kid who struggled to gain muscle and improve performance. Through years of research and learning, he has developed a passion for understanding how the body works in order to optimize diet and training. After obtaining a degree in Business Administration and Entrepreneurship, Simeon became a Certified Personal Trainer and began his passion of offering plant-based coaching services. He embodies the belief that we all have the power within to achieve our goals. Simeon has broad experience working with hundreds of clients of all ages, backgrounds, and fitness levels.
Taylor Carberry, RD, CPT
Taylor is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Personal Trainer. In 2017, after losing multiple family members to breast cancer, she decided she was going to do everything in her power to reduce her lifetime cancer risk. Once Taylor dove down the rabbit hole of plant-based nutrition research, she knew going vegan was a no-brainer for long-term health.
Taylor continues to be passionate about inspiring others to prioritize their health through realistic, sustainable methods and leave fad diets in the past. She is grateful to become part of the Vegan Gym team and help even more people change their lives!
Success Coach Elke
Elke has been vegan since 2015 and has a passion for sustainability in food systems. She is a huge advocate for supporting local farmers, developing healthy relationships with food, and playing around with home fermentation. Though she went vegan after learning about the environmental impact of animal agriculture, her motivation to eat plants quickly evolved to include personal health and compassion for other beings. Her athletic journey is now focused on building strength, endurance, and mobility to chase all the outdoor adventures she loves! She loves empowering people in their health and fitness journeys!

Joff (full name: Fridtjov) has been a vegan for 4 years and is a huge animal advocate! Leif is a leading expert in the field of vegan fitness. He went vegan in 2014 after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. Since then, he has published numerous books on the topics of plant-based nutrition, vegan fat loss, and vegan muscle growth. Anders is a nationally qualified vegan physique competitor and Head of Client Success at the Vegan Superhero Academy. During his 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, Anders trained in the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program, earned distinction as an Expert Rifle Marksman, led the Marine Body Composition Program, and commanded Marines through High-Intensity Tactical Training. He's worked with hundreds of clients as a certified personal trainer and co-hosts The Vegan Gym Podcast with his brother Leif.
Noor lost 10% body fat in 90 days!

Chris lost 22 pounds and built a healthy relationship with food!

Lisa got strong and sculpted in 3 months!
In just 3 months, Lisa increased her strength significantly and hit many personal bests in the gym. One of her biggest accomplishments was that she finally accomplished her goal of deadlifting 100 kg! Lisa also learned how to optimize her plant-based nutrition program to get the most out of her results. After 5 years of struggling as a vegan, Vinny finally got the results he wanted!
For 5 years, Vinny struggled as a vegan. He was doing his best to eat right and work out consistency, but he wasn't seeing the results that he wanted. How much does the Vegan Superhero Academy cost?
It depends on what you need! We do not offer cookie cutter programs. Everything we do is fully customized to each client. Through the application process (which starts with clicking the "Apply Now" button), we'll find out exactly where you're at, where you want to go, and what we need to do to get you there. If we decide this is the right coaching program for you, then we'll figure out a payment plan that works for you. What's different about our coaching?
Most online coaching services (and most fitness experts) use generic exercise and diet templates. That means the same program for everyone — regardless of age, experience, or goals. But in the Vegan Superhero Academy everything from your nutrition plan to the exercise program is fully customized to your schedule, lifestyle, and personal preferences. That level of personalization is why we only accept a limited number of clients every month.
Do I need to be in the USA to join the Vegan Superhero Academy?
Nope. We’ve had clients from over 25 countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, Colombia, Germany, Japan, and Australia. We’d love to have you, no matter where you’re from.
Do you coach non-vegans?
We only create 100% vegan nutrition programs for our clients. But we do accept non-vegan clients who are ready to go fully vegan with our nutritional guidance.
What if I'm a complete beginner?
We love beginners! Our goal is to help you become 100% confident with exercise and nutrition - without needing to think about it all the time. No matter your goal, we’ll guide you every step of the way and make sure you’re always following the right plan for your body.
What if I'm more advanced?
We’ve worked with a lot of intermediate and advanced clients, too. Some of them come to us with years of experience, but are tired of doing the same routine. Other people “know what to do” when it comes to exercise and nutrition — but they struggle to do it consistently. We’ll help you get back on track, get better results, and teach you some new things along the way.
What's the time commitment?
Because your nutrition and exercise program are customized for you and your lifestyle, the time commitment is totally dependent on your goals and schedule. If you want to exercise four days a week, we’ll make it happen. If you can only exercise once per week, we’ll take care of you. Coaching is an ongoing process and it adapts with your life. Once you’re in the Vegan Superhero Academy, you’ll work directly with your coach to get the best plan for your body and your schedule.
Can you work around injuries?
Yes. Lots of people come to us with annoying shoulder, knee, or lower back issues (among other things). We’ll not only help you “work around it,” we’ll also give you ways to fix whatever issue you’re dealing with. And if we determine you’d be better off getting medical help for your injury, we’ll make sure to help you find a good service provider in your area.
How customized is the Vegan Superhero Academy?
Let’s put it this way: If you have food allergies or special dietary preferences, we’ll create a nutritious meal plan that meets your exact needs. If you love chocolate or non-dairy ice cream, we'll be sure to work some into your meal plan. If you don’t know what you want to eat, we’ll work with you to decide which plan is right for you — and then give you everything you need to be successful.
If you have a big event coming up, we’ll help you get prepared. If you go on vacation, we’ll write you a hotel room workout (or maybe even suggest you take the week off and enjoy yourself). If you have a shoulder injury, we’ll give you exercises to help it get better. If you want to lose weight the first few months and then add muscle the next few months, we’ll help you do that.
You tell us what you want to do, and we’ll help you do it. In other words: It’s very customized.
When can I expect to see results?
When you will see results is completely personal. It depends on your goals, your current lifestyle, and how much work we need to do together.
We’re invested in your success and want to help you over both the short and the long run. That means results that last. So while we’d love to be able to give you a specific answer, here’s what we can say with absolute confidence: If you follow your coaches suggestions to the best of your ability, you WILL get results. In fact, we guarantee it.
How often will I hear from or interact with my coach?
We're available 24/7 via text and we'll be with you every step of the way. You will also have regular coaching calls to discuss your progress, make tweaks to your programs, work through struggles, and answer questions. You'll also get daily encouragement, support, and accountability from other members of the Vegan Superhero Academy family.
How long does the Vegan Superhero Academy last?
In order to get the best results possible, we have a 3-month minimum commitment. Remember, we’re playing the long-game here. After the first three months, we’ll continue to coach you for as long as you want. Our clients come to enjoy having someone they trust write their exercise and nutrition programs, so most of our clients continue for 6 to 12 months — with some sticking around for two or even three years!
Do I need to take supplements in this program?
We firmly believe that you can get all the nutrients you need from a whole-food, plant-based diet. While we recommend supplementing with vitamin B12 and the Omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA for optimal health, you certainly don't need to take any supplements in this program. There are a few other supplements that we occasionally recommend to help our clients accelerate results. However, none of the supplements contain caffeine or any dangerous ingredients. They are all amino acids or herbs designed to nourish your body and support your fitness goals.
I just turned 65. Am I too old to join this program? Please be honest.
You are definitely not too old! We have worked with clients of all ages from 19 to 78. And they've all found tremendous success within this Academy because we fully customize each client's nutrition and training programs based on hundreds of different factors.
